DevOps Engineer

About the Role

TrueNorth Logistics moves freight across the US-Canada border, and our tracking platform processes 40,000 shipments a day. You will own the CI/CD pipelines and Kubernetes clusters that keep that platform shipping code daily and running around the clock. This is a senior role with real authority over tooling, architecture, and how the team deploys.

What You'll Do

• Own CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions for 12 services, from commit to production deploy
• Operate and scale EKS-based Kubernetes clusters that handle 40,000 shipment events per day
• Manage all infrastructure as code in Terraform, including review standards and module design
• Build and tune Datadog dashboards, monitors, and SLOs for freight-tracking APIs
• Lead incident response and post-incident reviews during your on-call week, one week in six
• Cut deploy times and flaky-build rates, with targets you help set each quarter
• Pair with developers to make services observable, autoscalable, and cheap to run

What You'll Bring

• 5+ years in DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering roles
• Production Kubernetes experience: deployments, autoscaling, upgrades, troubleshooting
• Strong Terraform skills, including writing reusable modules and managing state safely
• Hands-on CI/CD pipeline ownership with GitHub Actions or a close equivalent
• Solid scripting in Python or Bash for automation and tooling
• Experience running monitoring and alerting at scale with Datadog or similar
• Comfort joining an on-call rotation and leading incident calls

Nice to Have

• Experience with event-driven systems such as Kafka or Kinesis
• Background in logistics, transportation, or another high-volume operational domain
• AWS or Kubernetes certifications
• Experience with cost optimization on AWS at the six-figure monthly spend level
